New Delhi: Namo Bharat Expansion is set to transform connectivity across the National Capital Region as new rapid rail corridors linking Delhi with Baghpat, Baraut, Khurja and Hapur move closer to implementation. The expansion comes after the success of the Delhi–Meerut stretch, which has already improved high-speed regional travel.
The project is being executed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation, the agency responsible for developing India’s Regional Rapid Transit System.
Delhi–Baghpat–Baraut Corridor to Cut Travel Time
Under the expansion plan of the Namo Bharat, a new corridor will connect East Delhi with Baghpat and Baraut. Currently, commuters spend nearly three hours travelling by road due to traffic congestion.
Once operational, the rapid rail is expected to reduce the journey to less than an hour, offering major convenience to daily passengers.
Ghaziabad–Khurja Line to Boost Industrial Growth
Another important corridor will connect Ghaziabad with Khurja through towns like Dasna, Gulaothi and Bulandshahr. Khurja, known for its ceramic and industrial activities, is expected to benefit from faster connectivity with Delhi-NCR.

The current road journey takes up to two hours. With the rapid rail corridor in place, the travel time may drop to nearly 30–35 minutes, significantly improving business mobility.
Direct Rapid Rail Between Ghaziabad and Hapur
The proposed Ghaziabad–Hapur corridor is also part of the Namo Bharat Expansion. This route will strengthen connectivity in developing residential and commercial areas.
At present, commuters take over an hour by road. The rapid rail could reduce the journey to just 20–25 minutes, making daily commuting faster and smoother.
What It Means for NCR Residents
The Namo Bharat trains are designed for high-speed regional travel with modern coaches, air-conditioning and advanced safety features. With a design speed of up to 180 km/h, the network aims to redefine public transport standards in NCR.
Once final approvals are granted, construction of these new corridors could begin, bringing massive relief to lakhs of commuters and boosting economic activity across connected districts.
